The Modern Digital Marketer Demands An Agile Platform

No matter your industry, the marketing department is under intense pressure to drive innovative campaigns and achieve business objectives. And a key tool in reaching desired business outcomes is a secure, scalable digital platform.

Fabio TorliniAnecdotally, we’ve known for years that digital platforms fuel success. But at WP Engine, we wanted proof. We put together a survey asking marketing leaders and decision makers in the UK about their expectations for their platforms and how they help them achieve their goals.

Not surprising, the vast majority (89%) of senior marketing decision makers in the UK said a secure and scalable digital platform is imperative to their success.

At the same time, more than a third of CMOs say digital marketing will account for 75% or more of their spending within the next five years.

It’s clear from our survey that senior marketers know the importance and the value of a strong digital platform, as a digital strategy build around agility and customer experience is a cornerstone of success.

I urge every marketer to consider how their platform ties into their business objectives and ask themselves these questions:

  • Is the technology you’re using right for the job?
  • Are you taking full advantage of all the capabilities of the tech you’re buying?
  • Is it future-proof?
  • Is it easy to integrate and to use?
  • Does it fulfil the digital experience your customers crave?

If the answer to any of these questions is “no,” then it’s time to rethink your digital strategy and find new technology partners that deliver the digital tools you need to fuel your success.

What’s encouraging, is that our research found that more than three quarters (76%) of senior marketers expect to realize changes to their digital marketing platforms over the next year, while 20% intend to make those changes immediately. That illustrates the understanding that digital platforms are key to success.

And when they weigh digital platforms, marketers consider a number of factors, ease of integration and price chief among them.

That’s what makes WordPress the front-runner in the digital marketing ecosystem.

As a platform, WordPress delivers the speed, ease of integration, and the agility marketers demand, while delivering rapid RoI (another need for digital marketers, as they want to realize their platforms’ potential to their businesses in the shortest time possible). In fact, it’s why 40% of IT decision makers use WordPress as one of their digital platforms.

As the worlds of digital and traditional marketing become more tightly intertwined, CMOs and senior marketers are charged with adapting and getting back to basics with a digital platform that delivers on the promise of speed and simplicity.
